Move It Mondays comes to St Leonards

St Leonards Estate residents were able to appreciate their fantastic region at the Tastes of the Estate event held earlier this month at Walter Day Park.

Creating Communities worked closely with the newly-formed Residents Group, Progress Developments and Little Group to deliver an occasion with a touch of class, and the afternoon was an opportunity for residents to get a taste for community life, with gourmet treats and good company.

‘Fat Decanter’ facilitated samplings of wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages from the Swan Valley, and canapés were prepared at a live cooking station by ‘Red Hot Spatula’, a Middle Swan company who source all of their produce locally.

The Residents Group not only assisted with the event’s organisation but also made the most of the opportunity to engage their community, running a Neighbourhood Watch stall, welcoming people and organising an extremely successful fundraising raffle.

Another highlight was the performance by St Leonards Development Manager Rob Cole’s band ‘A Bit on the Side’, which was a real crowd-pleaser!

Some fantastic feedback was received from local residents, who recognise the importance of community events as a means of connecting with their neighbours.

Carol Buchanan posted on the St Leonards Estate Facebook page – “I just want to say thanks so much for a lovely afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting some of the locals. Everyone is so friendly and I think I’m going to be very happy here.”
